DAVID FETHERSTON       back to "Meet the Band"
Bass guitar David James Fetherston was born September 9, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His earliest musical influence occurred when the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964. Following this life changing event, David was able to talk his parents into buying him a $25 Sears guitar and by the time he was in high school he was playing rhythm guitar in his first band. David continued playing in various rock & blues bands through high school eventually switching to bass guitar. By 1970, David's taste in music began shifting more to the folk/rock style of Crosby, Stills and Nash with their blend of acoustic and electric instrumentation and strong harmony vocals. This interest eventually led him in the direction of country rock and by 1972 David was playing bass for one of Milwaukee's premier country rock bands, opening concerts for Pure Prairie League, Roger McGuin, Poco, and John Prine. Following the bands' breakup in 1973, David and his wife Diane moved to Colorado, first settling in Telluride where he was exposed to a steady diet of bluegrass music. Eventually David and his family settled in the Western Slope town of Grand Junction, Colorado where he continues to live and play music in country, country rock and bluegrass bands as well as performing as a soloist all over Colorado and the surrounding states.
